Simple story of an ordinary meeting which
caused
extraordinary
hesitation
E.J.
My grandma used to warn me about different thingswhich might happen in life. She wanted to make
sure that when they occurred I would recognize them,
and beware, so they wouldn't hurt me. She would tell
stories about people and places, about mistakes
she had made in life and about her dreams which
have never come true.
One day I arrived for my usual visit. The daywas like any other; a little gloomy with a few rays of
light falling and brightening her face. She fixed her
hair that day, dressed up smartly and sat in her
armchair smoking a pipe. She sat brooding for a long while,
then said, "Today I would like to share with you a
story of someone who was very dear to my heart.
Someone who will always mean a great deal to me.
Silence fell, and grandma inhaled a little plumtobacco. The atmosphere was dignified, filled with
seriousness and secrecy.
She told me a story of a boy who found himself inThe situation that he did not quite understand, which had to do with a
girl who was there with him that very evening.
Due to a series of events... one thing led to a series of events. They started to talk and made time stop for awhile. The world started to spin, vibrations were right, there was nothing more they wanted than just to stay and
wonder about the mystery of life. They cast a spell
over time and themselves without knowing and
predicting how difficult it will be to cope with the
fact that they suddenly begin to exist for one
another. In that very moment both of them were very
present, conscious. They were participating in the
conversation (like people should every minute of their
lives no matter where they are and what they do) with
engagement, burning interest,
chemistry and dedication. They both had their lives,
their concerns, wishes and visions for the future.
Though not really .He said:” Plans make me”She: never knows how will her life look like so shelet things happen but always is in control of not
getting stuck. She needs her freedom to breathe.
That is one of the reasons why she shuns commitment, never entersinto agreements, or makes promises
that she can not keep.
He surrounded her with his World. His music, his writing, his authors, poems, people that he knows, unclear
situations, with his trust in her.
They started to open doors for one another, carefullyand firmly.
They were both trying to control it but somewhere deepinside did not care.
They knew! She did not know how to interpret what was happening. She would ask him different questions like a child whoneeds to feel safe. She believed she had found a soul
mate that will always be there for her. Both had come
a long, long way until that very meeting. They had journeyed
through isolated countries and experiences to meet there
for a little while. To meet and give something to each
other that no one can ever take away.
My grandma started to cry without my understandingwhat was really happening. She wiped away tears,
and muttered some kind of entreaty which helped her calm
down. A few moments later she asked for forgiveness due to
the flash of uncontrolled emotion and continued…
You see, she whispered, amazingly enough these twoyoung, old people were trying to discover how
they would want to spent these few short moments
that were given on the Earth.
They strongly believed thatthey had touched the Truth and the Destiny. It scared
them on one hand and filled with a Hope on the other.
Even though they did not know whether they were cut out for one anotherthey kept listening to the music.
They did not need to talk then, they just felt and knew, and appreciated the moment of a mystery and unknown future.
They knew that there would come a time when they willhave to let each other go without regret, bitterness
or worries.
They have grown into each other and become one. They will never be the same again. They are both very complex human beings. Sometimesthey think they know more than anybody. Other times
they just feel and rely on their instincts and intuition.
They are like animals on one on side and sophisticatedcreatures on the other.
They might be just simple people who seek the mysteryof life.
They like to prove the impossible, fight with a thingwithout a face, challenge themselves and then dream
like a baby. Personalities of contradictions make them
attract one another. Neither can resist spending the next few
minutes in the car talking, laughing and holding
hands.
Grandmother wanted to say much more but got very tired. Hercat jumped on her knees and they both fell asleep. I
covered her with a blanket and left the place. We’ve
never talked about it after that day. It wasn’t
necessary
